PUNTA SUR PARK

SAN GERVASIO MAYAN RUINS

This Mayan complex is Cozumel’s preserved ruins’. San Gervasio is thought to have been the site of the sanctuary of Ixchel, goddess of fertility, and thus an important pilgrimage site at which Maya women worshipped. EL CEDRAL

El Cedral is a small village built around the oldest Mayan ruin in Cozumel Mexico. This Mayan ruin, which functioned as a jail in the 19th century, is the oldest on the island, dating way, way back to AD 800. It's the most accessible of Cozumel's ruins and if you rent a vehicle, you may discover it yourself without paying. The ancient structure is the size of a small house.  El Cedral is thought to have been an important ceremonial site. Today a stucco church sits next to the ruin. El Cedral is a very interesting little village and every year Cozumel holds a huge fair called “Feria El Cedral” which brings people from all around Mexico to take part and features horse racing, rooster fights, rodeo, concerts, bullfighting, lots of food and merchandise. ARRECIFE PALANCAR "Palancar Reefs"

The coral reefs of Cozumel are where it's at for prime scuba diving. Divers in search of the best diving destination, would be very please with Palancar reef in Cozumel Mexico. One of the best reefs Cozumel has to offer is the kilometres-long Arrecife Palancar (Palancar Reef), where stunning coral formations and a 'horseshoe' of coral heads offer the world's finest scuba diving adventure, and this reef has an amazing visibility of 70m (230ft) . Underwater photographers should come ready to capture this underwater world of Palancar reef in Cozumel Mexico, with amazing photos to share. The water around the reef is deep, providing pro divers the opportunity for fantastic deep-water diving.

The north end of the reef, is called Palancar Gardens, is shallower but just as gorgeous and spectacular. There are caverns and plenty of brightly colored sea creatures to discover during your dive.

The Palancar Reef areas are popular, so their much-lauded coral is always vulnerable to attack. Be careful to leave the area no less pristine than it was before your arrival. PUNTA MOLAS

This is for the true adventures and is a “do it yourself tour” for those who like to take their own adventures. Head northeast, fellow adventurer, and you'll find yourself at the deserted lighthouse of Punta Molas with magnificent views and gorgeous deserted beaches on the way. Make sure to take a 4WD vehicle, as this point isn't the easiest to reach and sand roads, huge rocks, and dirt will greet you during your off-road journey. You'll want to fill up on gas as it is a far journey. Once in the vicinity, you'll find some fairly spectacular secluded beaches and some ruins. The best camping spot along the road is at the lovely Playa Bonita.
